Muhammad Raza Khan, son of the Solut-ul-Mulk, Khan of Bastak, was appoint
ed Deputy Governor of Lingah on April 18th. He took over charge on April 26th.
Mr. G. A. MunGavin, His Majesty’s Consul and Assistant Resident, Bandar
Abbas, arrived on April 22nd and took over the affairs of the Vice-Consulate on the
30th idem from Assistant Surgeon Johnstone. The Vice-Consulate is shortly to be
abolished and Lingah be included within the jurisdiction of His Majesty’s Consul.

Monsieur A. Fourman arrived on March 21st and relieved Monsieur Bourgeois,
the Director of Customs, who left for Bushire on the night of April 24th.
The local community are inclined to think that the new tariff is unduly heavy
on articles of staple diet such as rice, wheat, flour and sugar. The opinion is that
the first of these should be without duty, and that sugar should remain as it was
before.
There was a severe storm on April 2nd. Four native vessels in the harbour
were wrecked and one of the crew of an Arab boat was drowned.
The arsenal and ordnance camp at Naiband was destroyed by fire on the after
noon of the 15th of April, but the full extent of the damage and the cause of the fire
is not yet known.
Mr. G. A. MunGavin, His Majesty’s Consul and Assistant Resident, Bandar
Abbas left for Lingah on the morning of 21st April to take over charge of His
Majesty’s Vice-Consulate at Lingah.

News was received last week from Rawar of the murder of one Saiyid Mustafa
Rawari, who worked zealously for the moderate party during the recent elections.
He had also informed His Majesty’s Consul in December last of the existence of
some German property at Rawar, in possession of Mirza Lutfullah, a Democrat,
and former agent of Petag and Company in Kerman. This property has since
been recovered, •

and took over charge of the office of Governor-General, Kerman, on

The Commission appointed to enquire into the Kerman claims against the Shahr
Babak Khawanin has completed its sitting. No definite proof was forthcoming of
the Khawanins being implicated in the robberies for which claims have been lodged,
and the Commission therefore recommended that Khans should, with the concur
rence of the Consulate, be released in Kerman on security pending reference of the case
to
