Content

The letter congratulates Bussora [Basra] on having 'got rid of the Persians in a peaceful manner'. Financial and administrative issues related to Coja Evra are also discussed. An additional note discusses the whereabouts of Soliman Aga (the Ottoman Governor - or mutasallim During the eighteenth century this was the third most powerful official in Ottoman Iraq (after the Pasha and the Kiya). The title was given specifically to the Governor of Basra. - of Basra). The letter has an additional note from 7 April. Shipped by Jumma via Grain [Kuwait].
