therefore warned to hand them to the troops now garrisoned

Regarding those tribes who have in the past
committed crimes, these tribes will be pardoned and forgiven
providing they now obey the Government and the 'Government
officials* Adequate steps will be taken to prevent the en
croachment and trespass of the Iraqi robbers*

the Government has taken the necessary steps* For the
establishment of educati®n, distribution of Government
rations and sowing seeds to the peeple of these areas,' the

Consular diaries detailing affairs in Ahwaz [Ahvāz], Persia [Iran]. The diaries were submitted on a fortnightly basis by the British Consul at Ahwaz, although for some periods they were submitted monthly. The diaries cover the period of the Second World War and the Anglo-Soviet occupation of Iran, beginning in August 1941. Subjects covered in the diaries include: the actions of the local Persian administration, including the movements of local Persian officials; the economic situation, including agricultural production, harvests, irrigation, food supply and prices; tribal affairs in the surrounding region, with frequent reference to the Bakhtiari, Kughilu (also spelt Kuh Galu) and Arab tribes, tribes in Luristan [Lorestān], and their relations with the Persian authorities; the movements of foreigners; internal security; public health; local politics and elections; communications, including roads and railways; meteorological observations; British interests, including the movements of British officials and British subjects; Soviet interests; propaganda and public opinion.
The file includes a divider, which gives a list of correspondence references contained in the file by year. This is placed at the back of the correspondence.
