FOR INFORMATION.
This is an interesting statement of
the financial position at Bahrein, -he bulk,
indeed, almost all, of the revenue of the
State is derived from customs, which, under the
management of a< European Financial Adviser,
assisted by a competent European Customs
Officer, continue to show a remarkable
increase from year to year.
The points to which attention may be
invited are:-
(a) The burden on the public finances
represented by the ruling fami^r and their
dependents. Approximately teaSC the yearly
revenue of the State is appropriated to the
Civil List, and apart from this, members of
the ruling House draw salaries as.
