16. The Russian military authorities are still unwilling to allow recon
naissances by British officers of roads or aerodromes in Russian-occupied
territory except as regards roads to be used for the transit of goods to Russia, and
then only up to the points where transport will be operated by British authorities.
17. Some 250 Persian officers are still held as prisoners by the Russian
ds. General Novikoff says that the release of these may be considered after in

18. Captain Bonneau, late charge d’affaires at Kabul and now “chef de

19. The arrangements mentioned in paragraph 23 of Intelligence Summary
No. 26 for the repatriation of a party of sixty-five German women and children
have had to be postponed, as all rolling-stock in Iraq is fully taken up for the
transportation of Axis nationals being repatriated from Afghanistan through
Iraq.
