He said that one ’Azam, brother of Ahmad Khan (one of the camel-
owners), who had recently passed through Gazik on his way to Meshed from
Sistan had informed him that he (’Azam) had seen the stolen camels on the
banks of the Shela in Sistan in the possession of certain Sistan Baluchis,
but this statement required confirmation.
I asked Nur Muhammad to accompany me to Sistan to give me a clue to
the camels, but he excused himself from doing so on the plea that he had
never seen the camels himself and could not give me any assistance in identi
fying them. He, however, said that his servant Abdulla was in Sistdn and
would give me the necessary information.
44. Our camelmen could not find more than two serviceable camels at

Sarbisha is said by the people to contain 700 or 800 houses, but accord
ing to the revenue collector, who ought to know better, the number of families
does not exceed 500 at present.
(a) A native trader of this place, who returned from Bandar Abbas with
Diversion of the caravan traffic from the Bandar his Caravan about a foitnight agO, states
Abbas to the Quetta route. that all Sistan caravans went to Quetta
instead of to Bandar Abbas last winter, and that some of the Kain caravans
were also thinking of following their example.
