been rejected by the latter.
Mr. Khonji's solicitors ask for advice as to
the action he should take, and the laws applying to the
island, the Court or way in which the claim will be
decided, and whether, if he should be dissatisfied with
any decision given, there is any appeal and, if so, to
what Court.
The question is one of some little difficulty.
The Sheikh of Bahrein has delegated responsibility to His
Majesty's Government in cases in which the respective
parties are Bahreini subjects and foreigners. Our
jurisdiction is exercised under the Bahrein Orders in
Council of 1913 and 1922? Paragraphs 45 and 46 of the
Bahrein Order in Council A regulation issued by the sovereign of the United Kingdom on the advice of the Privy Council. would appear to be the governing

suits against "a Bahrein subject", which is defined as
"a subject of the Sheikh of Bahrein", and it seems
arguable that the Ruler cannot himself be brought within
its operation. Assuming, however, that he can or that
he is prepared to agree to the case being decided by the
Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. , the simplest course would appear to be that
it should be heard and determined, with the Sheikh's

case an appeal will lie from the decision of the Political
