We might point out that in May 1929 Shaikh
Hamed brought the question of the partnership before the
Politloal Agent and oxer client 1 * Agent was sailed before
that gentleman* It was suggested by our silent 1 s Agent
that Shaikh Hamed should remove from the Factory An East India Company trading post. one of the
two seta of lo© Plant and that thonseforward each party
should work in thetr own account. This was agreed to by
Shaikh Hamed and thereupon, w© are told, judgment was
entered by the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. on these terms. Three
days after this dee is ion an Engineer appointed by Shaikh
Hamed attended at the Faotory for the purpose of selecting
and removing one of the machines, but Shaikh Haraed Informed
our client that as the season was so near there was not
tiae to remove the plant and erect it in the intended place
or to obtain the servioes of an Engineer to work the plant.
Shaikh Homed thereupon decided to postpone the removal
until some convenient later date, and in the meantime left
th* frechine in our cli«nt f s factory An East India Company trading post. * Otir didn't then
eontinued to work one machine only for himself, and in fact
has never used the other nachlne since.
Of course, bf before any agreement were
reached as to a settler*mfc, t^e wtmleipelity removed any
of the partnership assets, our client would reserve his
rights to hold them liable therefor.

This file contains papers relating to a legal dispute between Yusuf Lutfally Khunji and Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the ruler of Bahrain. The case concerns a joint venture between the aforementioned parties to set up and operate an ice-making plant in Bahrain at a spring owned by Mr. Khunji in 1922. Following the expiration of a five year monopoly on the manufacture and sale of ice in Bahrain, the two parties fell into a dispute on the plant.

The majority of the papers consist of legal correspondence between Mr Khunji's lawyers in Manchester and either the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. in Bahrain or the Financial Advisor to the Ruler of Bahrain, Charles Dalrymple Belgrave. Of note, however, are letters of intervention by the Foreign Minister of Iran through the Persian Legation in London, protesting the treatment of a Persian subject in British protected territory.
