19. As regards Shaikh hhroad^ disposal of his share of the
partnership. It will be seen that in tlieir letter of the
13th November 1931 to this ..gemey the solicitors state that
the partnership had actually expired some ^ years before. I
believe Mr. Chun ji has dropped this point. It will be noticed,
on pjisssnij that ’'dteror.s r. Oxmnjils local BgS&t always showed
Shaikh s share of the partnership as a substantial loss,
the Municipality cleared Bs.3,750 in two montiis while selling
far better ice ab one anna a pound instead of lumas 3 or 4.
Secondly,the right of the Shaikh or the Bahrain Government
to grant a monopoly is so clear that it requires no comment.
Mr.Khunji himself enjoyed a monopoly for 5 years and is
clearly estopped denying the State’s authority to grant it.
It was offered to i r.fhunji and refused by him as he demanded
a ten year monopoly.
Thirdly,it will be noticed that in his original letters
to me,Mr.Khunji stated that he entered into a partnership
agreement with Shaikh Nanud ’whereby we took over a factory An East India Company trading post.
