feared that the A1 Bn Sharnis negotiations would tend to
encourage every tribe in the Dhahira to assert its in
dependence by dealing direct with the Company. He
eventually, however, agreec- to recognise the results of
these negotiations and promised the Company his help with
the other Buraimi tribes. He produced a number of let
ters from the Buraimi Shaikhs in which they affir-med
their loyalty and obedience to him.

(ii) The bazaars of Dubai and Sharjah were closed
for two days on receipt of the news of the death of
Shaikh Hamad bin Abdullah bin Jasim al Than! of

Coast, has written to the Ruler of Abu Dhabi to appoint
a date on which he and the 4 other persons chosen will take
the oath and to inform him that a Dubai deputation will
wait upon him in either Abu Dhabi or Buraimi for this
purpose.
