anthracite. It was, of course, mixed with stony impurities. 'The
fault plane is almost vertical and trends in an east-west direction
nearly, or roughly at right angles to the strike of the slaty rocks which
it cuts. These slates trend north-north-west and dip at 75 degrees
to the west, and are overlaid by hard, trap-like sandstones which
contain veins of Gypsum along the bedding planes. The sample of
the carbonaceous material was analyzed by Messrs. R. V. Briggs &
Co., Btd., with the following results:—

This booklet contains a comprehensive geological report compiled by Sir Cyril Sankey Fox for the Omani Government in 1947. The booklet is the first general mineral audit of the southern reaches of Oman, near its border with Yemen, along with a detailed description of the geography. The mineral audit includes descriptions of potential oil deposits. The booklet also contains a map of the Dhufar coast.
