I hiiV« th* honour to say that o*a Khodadad bln
Mohamad, a formar Supply Agaat at Bassidu Station* a
ragular naval Bass in tha last cantury, dlad in 1862,
laaving a eonsidarablt estate, one third of which he
bequeathed for charitable purposes and appointed the
Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. and the Senior Natal Officer in the
Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. as the executors*
2. The case was referred in due course to the
Bombay High Court (Suit tfo.1116 of 1868), and the
bequest amounting to fcs*22 t 200/~ was placed in charge
of the Administrator General, Bombay. The Interest
accruing from this bequest has been transmitted
annually to the Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. by the Adminstrator
General* Bombay, and has been expended by the Resident
on charity according to liohaxaedaa usage* '
3. The income annually remitted to the Political
Resident is at present derived from Interest on
securities amounting to ha.15,SCO/- held by the
Official Trustee, Bombay,* and Interest on a fixed
deposit of Rs.3,000A in the Imperial Bank of India,
Bombay* The total annual income is approximately
KS.800A per annum.
4. In view of the approaching constitutional changes
in India, I feel that it would be advisable to transfer
this Trust Fund from the charge of the Administrator
General, Bombay, to that of the Political Residentt and
it is requested that the Government of India may advise
me on what legal processes will be required to effect
this transfer.
5. I am sending a copy of this letter to His Majesty’s
Secretary of State for India and His Majesty’s Ambassador
Tehran*
