I am directed to refer to Lieu tenant-Colonel Daly’s
telegram No.283, dated the 31st October 1936 and to request
that #ien you feel in a position to do so, you will kindly
report whether the retention of a Vice-Consulate at Birjanu
is any longer necessary. If it is necessary, would it be
possible to appoint a part-time Vice-Consul (e.g., the
Manager of the Birjand Branch of the Imperial Bank of Iran,
if a branch still exists there) instead of a whole-time one.
