I am directed to acknowledge the receipt of your letter
No 77, dated the 12th February 1905, recommending that
Captain Knox be permitted to draw the full allowances
attached to the post of Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. , with effeit
from the 6th August 19G4, the date on which he assumed chare ,

authority, for the grant of the allowance at the rate of
Rs 400/- per mensem for a period of six months from the
date mentioned by you, and thereafter at the reduced rate
of Hs.200/- per mensem. As regards the sumptuary allowance
of Rs 1 00/- pe r mensem, I am to convey sanction to its
beNfdrawn by Captain Knox with the rest of his emolument i
with effect from the date on which he assumed charge of
his present appointment, viz, the forenoon of the 6th August
1904.
