Dimensions: 270 x 180 mm leaf [180 x 95 mm written ff. 1-27; 210 x 140 mm written ff. 28-119]

Foliation: India Office The department of the British Government to which the Government of India reported between 1858 and 1947. The successor to the Court of Directors. foliation in pencil; with the folios of the second codicological unit (ff. 29-119) also foliated in black ink in Eastern Arabic numerals

Ruling: No ruling visible; 19 lines per page (ff. 1-27), 25 lines per page (ff. 28-119); vertical spacing 11 lines per 10 cm (ff. 1-27), 12 lines per 10 cm (ff. 28-119)

Script: Nasta‘līq

Ink: Black ink (ff. 1-27); black ink with rubricated headings and diagrams in red, light red and two other colours (blue and yellow?) that have corroded and damaged the paper (see ff. 58 and 101) (ff. 28-119)

Binding: Full cloth case binding

Condition: Extensive insect damage and water stains; many folios torn and repaired

Marginalia: Some marginal corrections in first text (ff. 1-27); very few in second text, which has catchwords added by a later hand (ff. 28-119)

Seals: Ff. 2r, 28r, 28a-r and 119v
