oen be summarised as • (l) elimination of the German menace
in Persia (2) protection of* essential British interests in
oil fields and Abadan (3) eventual opening up of supply routes
with Russia. Naturally they would prefer to secure these
objectives with Persian consent and hope that rapidity of our
own end Russian advance will convince Persian Govt* of
futility of resistance.
