Please thank Minister for Foreign Affairs warmly for
his good-will, and explain that although it is unfortunately
true that Turkish press and wireless have "been critical
of our action in Persia, we are sa.tisfied ihat Turkish_
Government a.ccept its necessity and_ that puolic criticism
need not he taken too seriously. Moreover Shan has
already made communication to Mis Majesty s^Government
and Soviet Government to which wc arc replying direct.
I think it essential therefore to employ no intermediary,
however friendly, lest confusion ensue.
