Commentary by Aḥmad ibn ʻAlī al-ʻAsqalānī (أحمد بن علي العسقلاني , d. 1449) known as Ibn Ḥajar (ابن حجر) on his own Nukhbat al-fikar fī muṣṭalaḥ ahl al-athar (نخبة الفكر في مصطلح أهل الأثر; A Selection of Thoughts Concerning the Terminology of the Traditionists ), a treatise on the science of prophetic traditions (علم الحديث).

Begins (f. 2v, lines 2-4):

قال الشيخ الفاضل العالم العلامة الحافظ وحيد دهره وأوانه وفريد عصره وزمانه شهاب الملة والدين

أبو الفضل أحمد بن علي العسقلاني الشهير بابن حجر أثابه الله الجنة بفضله وكرمه الحمد لله الذي لم يزل

عالمًا قديرًا حيًا قيومًا سميعًا بصيرًا ...

Ends (f. 27r, lines 12-15):

... وهي أي هذه الأنواع المذكورة

في هذه الخاتمة نقل محض ظاهرة التعريف مستغنية عن التمثيل وحصرها متعسر فليراجع لها
