A copy of a letter from Henry Willock, HM Chargé d’Affaires in Persia [Iran] to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. of the East India Company, sent from Tabrīz and dated 1 September 1821.
The letter forwards a dispatch and enclosures from Mountstuart Elphinstone, Governor of Bombay [Mumbai] (IOR/L/PS/9/69/76-78), announcing the mission of Dr Andrew Jukes to the Gulf, and reports that Willock will proceed to Tehran to assist in Jukes’s mission.
