Copy of a letter from Lieutenant Charles Christie, at the Prince Royal's Camp at Nuxshirvan [Nakhchivan], to the Secretary at HM Embassy in Persia [Iran], James Morier. It provides an update on events on the frontline of the conflict between the Persians and the Russians in the Azerbaijan region of Persia. A number of matters are discussed:
- Details of army stores
- Current position and strategy of the Persian and Turkish forces
- Recent Russian movements
- A request for higher pay for some of the British officers serving in the campaign.
The letter was enclosed in the letter of HM Ambassador Extraordinary to Persia, Sir Gore Ouseley, to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the East India Company, of 5 January 1812 (see IOR/L/PS/9/68/112), which was received on 1 July 1812.
