Copy of a letter from Sir Harford Jones, HM Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary A diplomatic representative who ranks below an ambassador. The term can be shortened to 'envoy'. to Persia [Iran], to Sir George Barlow, Governor of Madras, dated 4 April 1810. The letter reports the presentation of a sabre to Lieutenant Henry Willock, and the bestowal of the Order of the Sun [Order of the Lion and the Sun] upon two other members of the escort of HM Mission to the Court of Tohran [Tehran] by the Prince Royal [Crown Prince of Persia], Abbas Mirza.
The letter was enclosed in Jones's letter to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. of the East India Company of 30 May 1810, and was received on 4 October 1810.
