A copy of a letter from Sir Harford Jones, HM Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary A diplomatic representative who ranks below an ambassador. The term can be shortened to 'envoy'. to Persia [Iran] to Lord Minto, Governor-General of Bengal, sent from Tauris [Tabrīz] and dated 30 January 1810. The letter forwards correspondence relating to the Napoleonic Wars in Europe (not included in this item).
The letter was enclosed in Jones's letter No. 5 to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. of the East India Company dated 26 March 1810.
