Hie Chainnan stated that the pur^K>se of the meeting was
to consider the grounds for a renewal of tne Hu wait Civil Air
Agreement, due to lapse in May 1948, with a view to
foroulating a policy which could be discussed with Sir
Bupert Hay, Political Besident in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. who was at
present in London. A question for consideration was whether
the position 'at Kuwait offered any parallels to that v«iich
had arisen earlier with regard to Masirah and Salalah, where
civil air agreements had been negotiated with a view to
providing a civil facade for possible Royal Air Force
requirements*
