London. 10th May • A forecast r.f the Turco-Brltish
ae;reeirent re the Kuweit -Baghdad Railway Is given by a
correspondent of the^Telegraph^. He says it will be f-nrd
that Tnrkish sovereignty over Koweit is admitted, with a
formula recognising Britain’s special rights • It is
not anticlphted that Koweit will be chosen as the termin-
-al port of the Baghdad railway. The section of the lire
from Baghdad to the Gnlf has been entrusted to the Otto-
-man company for construction. The working will not be
internationalised.
London 14th May . The^Daily Mail" has published a state-
-ment that an Anglo-Turksih agreement has been drafted and
is awaiting ratifcation . It provides for the transfer to
Britain of the Turkish shares in the company formed to
construct the Baghdad -Gulf sections of the Baghdad Rail-

According to information from reliable
sources the bases of the Anglo-Turkish understanding with
reference to the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. are as follows:- The Turkish
Government recognises a British protectorate over Koweit
and concedes the eventual right of construction of a rail-
-way between Bas-jorah and Koweit . Bassorah shall become
the terminus of the Baghdad tailway which will be contin-
-ued under the same conditions as other sections of tie
line. Two British directors at least shall be appointed
to the directorate of the Baghdad Railway in r rder to sup
-ervise all transactions and prevent discrimination in
treatment of goods.
