Annex. I (A).
Lease of His Majesty’s Vice-Consulate at Mohammerah dated 1891.
(Translation.)
Mr. McDouall agrees to the lease of a building, of which he has given a
plan, wliicti the servants of H. D. Mu’iamid-us-S>uitan Mu izz-es-Saitaneh are
erecting.
Prom the date of the completion of the building Mr. McDouall will pay
9 per cent, per annum on the whole sum expended on the preparation of tne
ground ana the erection of the building.
IDs Excellency has accepted and given orders to build a house for His
Majesty’s Vice-Consul to be handed over to him after completion.
His Majesty’s Vice-Consul to pay the fixed annual rent as decided above.
The lower rate is given only in honour of His Majesty’s Vice-Consulate;
Companies and merchantile firms such as Lynch Brothers or other foreign
merenants have no right to ask for such a race. This favour to the Consulate
is not to be a precedent for merchants.
If the Vice-Consul wishes to make any alterations or additions to the
Consulate he must do so at his own expense, and it has nothing to do with the
owner and he cannot claim compensation for such additions when he wishes to
lease the Consulate. »
His Majesty's Consul has agreed to undertake the following repairs at
his own expense, namely, plastering the roof, repairing the doors and win
dows, and cleaning and painting the rooms and walls.
If a room or a wall falls down or the dnm in front of the building he
broken by water His Excellency will make the necessary repairs. A man will
be appointed from the Consulate to supervise along with a man from His
Excellency all matters concerning the building.

Between folios 51-70, the volume contains a number of appendices including copies of various relevant agreements. On folios 69-70, the volume contains the Persian text of a concession granted to the Nasiri Company for running ships from Ahwaz to Shushtar.
The volume was compiled by Lieutenant Arnold Talbot Wilson, Acting Consul for 'Arabistan. The printing statement reads, 'Calcutta: Superintendent Government Printing, 1912'
