The file contains correspondence relating to the seizure of boats belonging to Bahrain subjects by Persian patrol boats. The correspondence is between representatives of the Bahrain Government, the Political Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. in Bahrain, and the Political Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. at Bushire.
The papers concern five separate incidents in 1933, 1934 and 1940, when boats and cargo were captured by the Persian authorities, who suspected smuggling was taking place. Some of the correspondence pertains to the value of goods seized.
The file contains an issue of the publication Khaleej-i-Iran , dated 4 March 1933, that features an article on one of the boat seizures (folios 5-6; English translation, folio 20).
