Saiyid Taflar (Tuffar )—An “ eastender ” of Samawah, whom ’Ajaimi
carried off and has kept prisoner since October 1915 His son is Saiyid
Husain.
Said {Saiyid) Laidan —Nasiriyah. Received at General Officer Com
manding’s reception, 29th July 1915.
Saqban ibn ’Ali .—Of the Khafajah.
Sakhi al-Alaiwi .—Of the Al-bu-Sa’ad. Went to Shatrah for jehad.
Salamah al-Rctsan .—Shaikh of Al-Suhail (Karagol).
— Son of Ihtisham-ul-Mamalik, treacherously seized by the
Turks. (23rd June 1915).
Salar-ul-Dauleh —In code communication with (and probably one of)
the German jehad mission to Afghanistan. Said to have gone to Khaniqin
line (27th Eebrnary 1915) and joinei the Turks at Sir-i-pul ( 21 st July 1915)
but the Turks ( 1 st March 1915) denied the earlier report.
Salar-i-Mansur .—And Bahadur-ul-^ultaneh led 600 Bakhtiaris returning
from Baratoff’s direction. Captured by Indian Sowars (25th April 1916).
Prisoner in Ahwaz. ( 2 Sth April 1916).
Salah-ud-din. —Engineer-Lieutenant at surrender of Kut, April 1916.
Saleh. —( 1 ) Bey {i.e , Muhammad Saleh, q. v.). Officer Commanding, 105th
