Saiyid Eadi ibn Mugother —Of Shinafiqah. His brother is Saiyid Husain
Joined Turks at Nasiriyah (22 nd January 1915) and has been helping them
during the war.
Saiyid Eadi Tmwaiyen. —Shaikh, sharing Government of Ja’arah with
’Ali al-Eatan. (2nd November 1915).

Saiyid Eaibet-ul-din al-Shahrastani. —Influential mujtahid from Najaf.
Saiyid Husain. —Son of Saiyid Tuffar, wounded in a fight between East
and Westenders at Samawah. ( 1 th March 1916).
Saiyid Ibrahim EJfendi al-Jaljaluti. —Brother of Saiyid ’Abd-ul-Rahman,
the Mufti of Nasiriyah. A fanatic of Nasiriyah, friend of ’Asaimi, gone to
Shatrah to stir up the tribes (28th December 1916). Was formerly Bais al-
Baladiyah of Nasiriyah : he is called “ Qadhi of Shatrah ” by Nur-ul-din
about December 1915. One Saiyid Ibrahim (imprisoned at Kut for two
months as suspect during siege) is now Bais al-Baladiyah of Kut, May
1916.

Saiyid 'Isa Bamhorwuzi. —A firebrand agitator of Bamuz, now in hands
of Ilkhani The paramount chief of certain tribes in south west Iran. . (10th April 1916).
Saiyid Ismail Sadi'-ul-Islam. —A big mujtahid of Karbala, rumoured
killed. (21st Eebruary 1916).
Saiyid Jung. —Lali Ilkhani The paramount chief of certain tribes in south west Iran. . {See Muhtasham).
Saiyid {Muhammad) Kddhim al-Yazdi Taba'-taba'i. —A high Shi’ah
dignitary of Karbala; his son is Saiyid Muhammad, now dead. He refused
to be taken on in jehad, saying that he was an old man whose life was of no
consequence. (See Saiyid Muhammad 'Ali).
