Supply of Penicillin for Bahrain Government Hospital.
2. As the present arrangement for getting Penicillin from
Tehran for the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. Hospital, Bushire, has proved most unsatis

I have, at the request of the Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in the
Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , asked Dr. Snow, Chief Medical Officer, Bahrain, to
include in his indents on London, an additional 500,000 units of
Penicillin fortnightly to meet the requirements of the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India.

3. Dr. Snow states that he cannot himself increase his present
monthly indents and requests that you be approached on his behalf to
Increase his monthly requirements of Penicillin by 10 vials (1,000,000
units) which he will on receipt transfer to this Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. for onward
despatch to Bushire.
4. Grateful if arrangements for supply of this extra quantity
of Penicillin to Dr. Snow can be made.

Goods discussed include:

  • Electrolux refrigerators, ordered through the Bahrain merchant Yousuf Abdul Rahman Fakhroo, and including correspondence for the delivery of one refrigerator to H Borovitz of the Etimadeyah Spinning and Weaving Company in Bushire;
  • medical supplies, including quinine, and a request from the Chief Medical Officer for the Government of Bahrain for Penicillin, with correspondence following on arrangements for the quick delivery of Penicillin to Bahrain;
  • other miscellaneous items including coke, washing soda, vegetable ghee, electrical wiring, coir matting, car batteries, and stamps.
