H. B. The only existing map of the country was a which
showed the actual river and nothing else.
This map was gradually pieced together from ground
& air reconnaissances (the latter by means of sketches
from the air; there were no cameras and only a very few
aeroplanes) and the first rough sketch map produced at
the end of Feb. The first map with any pretensions to
accuracy was not produced till the summer of 1976.
