I have the honour to state that at the end of
last month the Treasury balance in coins, currency notes and
stamps was

which is Rs. 37,44,000/-, and I shall be glad to know what
will be the position in respect of the normal cash balances
when the transfer takes place next April#
As Indian currency will continue to be used, I
suggest, subject to the approval of the Colonial Office,
that the money be retained as an advance or loan to assist
the new Colony to adjust its finances during the period
of transition. The issue of new postage and other stamps
will be available fron April next, and I suggest that the
stock of Indian stemps which will not be in use be
returned to the Stemp Store Department at Nasik and its
value adjusted against the accounts of the Aden Treasury.
I shall be grateful if I may be informed of the
views of Government of India on these points

The successor to the Court of Directors. , the Colonial Office, and the Government of India Finance Department, regarding financial and treasury arrangements in the event of the transfer of Aden to the Colonial Office.
The correspondence concerns Reilly's suggestion that a Treasury Officer be appointed at Aden, to oversee the budget and the Salt, Excise and Income-tax departments. Correspondence dated from 1937 concerns the return of the Reserve Currency Chest to the Government of India. It is agreed that the funds may be retained by Aden to meet the requirements of the Royal Air Force.
