“ In the event of these suggestions meeting with the approval of the
Most Noble the Governor-General-in-Council, I am to observe that
Major W. F. Beatson, late Brigadier in the Army of his Highness the
Nizam, whose return from furlough is shortly expected, appears to His
Excellency, from his long experience, a fit Officer to investigate into
the state of the Irregular Cavalry, and to prepare such rules and
regulations as may conduce to its perfect organisation.”

that the document therewith and herewith enclosed is a or

Decade of March, 1855), conferring upon General Beatson the Nishan
Iftihar for Military services rendered to the Imperial Ottoman Govern
ment.”
