1131 • in tact,but for the immense energy "and devotion to duty

It is now the turn of the Vernacu&ar office to re nire
assistance,ana an extra clerk has been asked for to help with
the increasing work. The number of cases has increased by
25 /; / and at the close of the year it was found impossible to keep
up with political work. The closing stages of the Nejd rebellion
provided a great deal of work,and a great deal of time of the
staff was taken up in the purely mechanical work of decoaing
messages,one ten page message froia the Colonial Office for Bin
Sa T ud occupying the Head Clerk ana First kunshi for two whole
days,owing to corrupt groups and the necessity for an accurate
translation. If the extra vernacular clerk is not provided chaos
will ensue.
