EMERGENCY POWERS (DEFENCE)
Order in Council A regulation issued by the sovereign of the United Kingdom on the advice of the Privy Council. amending the Defence Regulations, 1939.
At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 1st day of September,
1939-
Present,
The King’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council.
His Majesty, in pursuance of section one of the Emergency
Powers (Defence) Act, I939( a ), and of all other powers enabling
him in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of his
Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows: —
1. Paragraph (5) of Regulation 50 of the Defence Regula
tions, I939( b ) (which suspends, in part, the operation of section
sixteen of the Defence Act, 1842) ( c ), is hereby revoked.
2. Paragraph (4) of Regulation 51 of the Defence Regula
tions, 1939 (which suspends the operations of section nineteen
of the Defence Act, 1842), shall have effect as if in that para
graph for the words “ section nineteen of the Defence Act,
1842, as amended by any subsequent enactment ” there were
substituted the words “ so much of section nineteen of the
Defence Act, 1842, as amended by any subsequent enactment,
as relates to the putting of the Crown into immediate possession
of land
