At the beginning of the year the State held a
balance of Rs 1,13,856/- apart from the Reserve fund
of three
lacs
One lakh is equal to one hundred thousand rupees
which is still, fortunately, intact*
At the end of the year only Rs 24,540/- of this amount
remained.
In the Budget for 1350 it was estimated that the
REVENUE would be Rs 8,33,516/-. The actual RETEMIE
was only Rs 7,96,60l/—, a DEFICIT of Rs 35,915/- on the
amount budgeted.
The EXPESDITURE for 1350 was estimated in the
Budget at Rs 8,32,516/-. The actual EXPENDITURE was
Rs 8,33,52?/-, only Rs l,0ll/- more than the amount
which was estimated.
The total DEPICIT therefore on the year is.-
This amount was appropriated from the balance which
was carried over from 1349.
Besides this amount capital expenditure was incur
red in connection with the Muharraq electric extension,
and loan advanced to Bahrain Electric Supply amounting
to Rs 52,390/- which was also paid from the Rs 1,13,856/-
thus reducing the balance to Rs 24,540/-.

The volume contains the Annual Report of the Government of Bahrain for the Hijri year 1350 AH. The report includes the budget for the upcoming year (1351 AH). It is written by the Adviser to the Bahrain Government, Sir Charles Dalrymple Belgrave.
The report was submitted by Belgrave to the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. at Bahrain, Charles Geoffrey Prior, who then forwarded it to the Political Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , at Bushire. The correspondence relating to this process is included in the volume.
