The letter is acknowledging letters and enclosing a copy of a letter from Francis Warden to John Adam, 31 December 1816, discussing the recent acts of piracy and the inadequacy of measures taken to protect British ships. Warden reports that Captain Philip Henry Bridges has requested a strong force and is of the opinion that only the complete destruction of the pirates' ships would stop the attacks.
