The letter is an update of affairs in the region and contains several items of news and subjects:

the arrival in the Gulf of the English fleet that will assist Karim Khan;
Skipp's safe arrival at Schyrass [Shiraz];
a missing stationery box;
the continued prohibition of trade around Bushire and the consequent lack of need for more cloth from India.

A postscript, dated 26 March 1768, reports that the fleet left for Bussora [Basra] that morning.
