The letter gives notice of the arrival of ships and encloses several items:

Enclosure 1: extract of Company commands to Bombay, dated 21 November 1787. Number of bales of cloth being sent to Bushire this year and why.

Enclosure 2: a list of articles derived from plants that are wanted for cultivation at the botanical garden in Calcutta [Kolkata]. Each plant is listed as being from Ceylon [Sri Lanka], the Red Sea region, or with their exact origin unknown. Information and specimens are requested for each.

Enclosure 3: letter from William Dobinson, accomptant [accountant] at Bombay Castle, to Charles Watkins, dated 18 July 1788. Queries the accounts of the year 1781-82 and requests the relevant invoices.
