The letter is a cover for another for George Skipp in Shiraz (not present) and contains the news that the Turks have seized eleven of Meer Mahanna's [Mīr Muhanna] boats at Basra and the Bombay, Tyger, and Wolf ships had failed in an attempt to seize more of the Mīr's gallivats (a type of large boat). The likelihood of a revenge attack by the Mīr is discussed.
