Letter regarding an article in the Edinburgh Review which contains a personal attack on Pelly and asking for Sir Bartle's thoughts on it.

The letter also discusses recent observations on Central Asia and in particular the movements of Turkey, Russia and Persia; The good progress of Captains George Andew Atkinson & Alfred Cotton Way in their appointments and his regrets at losing Dr. Hojel.

The letter concludes by reporting on the arrival of the steamer May Frere which has enabled him to travel to the Arab Court at Muscat; Syad Torkee [Turki bin Said]'s march to attack Muscat by land and the difficulties with the governmentt of India's conflicting orders and criticism after the fact.
