About this record

Content

Letter regarding Highflyer having been stopped by the Wahabee [Wahhabi] before reaching Damaum but having succeeded in its attack on the Jenebah tribe at Soor [Sur] and requesting that following its return to Bombay it be allowed to bring a gun boat and materials to build a raft back to the Gulf.

The letter continues by reporting Pelly's intention to return to Muskat to assist the Sultan at Beraimee [al-Buraymi] before travelling on to Bunder Abbass [Bandar Abbas] to talk with the merchants there and make provisions for their removal to Kishm [Qeshm] should they come under attack from any quarter.

The letter also refers to a list of sizes of pearls with their prices, which is no longer enclosed, and a request by Pelly to be allowed to return to England once the Muskat affairs are settled as his health is suffering from the hot weather in the Gulf.
