- the dispute between Carim Caun [Karim Khan] and the Sheikhs of Bushire, which has led to the former imposing a blockade around Bushire;
- Sheikh Sa‘dūn's plan to travel to Schyrass [Shiraz] to pay tribute to the Khan and the hope that this might settle things;
- reports of English ships seen further south, heading in the direction of Muscat, that are believed to have survivors from the Defiance , which blew up the previous month, on board.
