The letter gives directions for what to do with the ships of the expedition against Carrack [Kharg] Island if the Caun [Karim Khan] fails to send his troops to assist by the 31 August 1768. There are also instructions to reduce the stock at Bushire. Enclosed is a letter to the commanders of the expedition (a copy of which is present).
Enclosed letter (dated 27 July 1768): to Charles Elphinstone and Lawrence Nelson, Commanders in Chief of the expedition against Carrack [Kharg]. The letter gives instructions for what to do depending on whether or not Karim Khan sends troops. Specifically, the movement of ships, the distribution of supplies and equipment, and how to deal with the Persian troops. The letter is certified a true copy by the signature of William Digges Latouche, secretary at the Basra Agency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, headed by an agent. .
