Letter regarding the well being of Pelly's horses, news of the death of a relative of the Malcolm family, the continuing spread of fever, records relating to Muskat [Muscat] and whether they should be with the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. or the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. there, and the departure of Amberwitch to Muskat with Mr Hubert Isaak Walton on board.
A postscript to the letter informs Pelly that Captain Oliver St John hopes to be in Bushire in early December, that Cholera has now left the Bushire neighbourhood and that Karrack [Bandar-e-Charak] and Bushire are the only two places on the Persian coast to have escaped it and news from Kemball that the Cholera outbreak in Baghdad was not too severe but that it ravaged places such as Kerbella [Kerbela] and was reported to be ravaging Mosul in the beginning of November.
