Letter enquiring whether Pelly has been before the Commission on the reorganisation of the Indian Army which Merewether had been called to appear before and enquiring, if Pelly has been, as to the nature of the examination of the Commission.

The letter also discusses Bartle Frere's proceedings in India the preceding year [1857] and suggesting that Pelly could discuss them in his letters to the Spectator in order to enlighten the general public as to their existence before proceeding on a discussion of Frere's contribution to Indian affairs.
