The letter is a covering letter, enclosing an extract of paragraph 34 of despatch no.16 of 1857 (folio 33), dated 11 February 1857, which relates to the success the previous year of the British Agent at Lingah [Bandar-e Lengeh] in tracing a boat in that port, stolen from Aboothabee [Abu Dhabi]. The extract authorises the Resident to make a small present to the British Agent.
