The letter is reporting that Sa‘īd bin Sultān Āl Sa‘īd, the Imam of Muscat, has accepted a British request to put an end to the slave trade in his lands. It notes that the Imam believes he will lose out politically and financially as a result; however, he considers it more important that the wishes of the British Government are attended to.
