In this letter, William Bruce, Resident at Bushire, states that in recent years the allowance granted to him for the keeping of a public table at the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. has not been sufficient, because of the increase in the number of visitors to Bushire. Bruce requests remuneration from the month of November 1816 onwards and he expresses his hope that an additional allowance will be granted for the future.
