In this letter, William Bruce, Resident at Bushire, refers to his letter of 22 April 1820 and reports the death of Belall (spelled as Bilall in ff 42v-44) Sedee. Bruce states that Doctor James Dow A term adopted by British officials to refer to local sailing vessels in the western Indian Ocean. , Assistant Surgeon at the Residency An office of the East India Company and, later, of the British Raj, established in the provinces and regions considered part of, or under the influence of, British India. , has concluded that there are no marks of violence on the deceased's body. Bruce reports that Mr Woodhead, Master of the Eliza, does not have the counter part of his indenture with him, but his second officer, Alfred Bond does have indentures with him, which Bruce has inspected and copied. Bruce writes that he has no doubt that the Honourable Board will see the necessity of having Mr Woodhead called to account for his conduct. He encloses a copy of a licence, dated 25 February 1814, and a copy of a letter from Mr Woodhead to Bruce, dated 26 [April] 1820.
