The letter relates to an act of piracy committed against a Bahraini vessel in the coastal waters between Aboothabee [Abu Dhabi] and Ras Reccan [Ra’s Rakan], as reported by the Native Agent Non-British agents affiliated with the British Government. at Sharjah, Hajjī Yaqoob. Kemball writes that subsequent efforts to find the perpetrators have thus far proved unsuccessful, and that he will despatch the Tigris to the Arab coast to seek the help of the region’s rulers in the search. Two enclosures follow Kemball’s letter:
1. The translation of a letter (folio 75-76) from Hajee Yacoob [Hajjī Yaqoob] to Kemball, dated 6 January 1855, containing details of the act of piracy;
2. Letter no.111 of 1855 (folio 77) from Kemball to Lieutenant Alexander Foulerton, Senior Naval Officer in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , dated 12 April 1855.
